Reporting back: more Police funding for Norfolk

Author: Chloe Smith, Updated: 13 September 2019 16:39

In Chloe’s work, she meets regularly with Norfolk Constabulary and supports them in their work to keep our city safe. In her absence, whilst she is on Maternity Leave, her office is pleased to share the following information with you.

Chloe welcomed the Government’s announcement of its intention to recruit an additional 20,000 police officers over the course of the next three years. Chloe wrote to the Minister for Policing to ascertain what specifically proposal will mean for Norfolk.

The Minister for Policing has since written back to me and her office is pleased to share a copy of the letter.

The Minister’s letter outlines that in 2019/20 Norfolk Police are receiving £165.1 million, an increase of £11.6 million, on 2018/19. This additional funding will enable police to recruit and fill key gaps such as crucial funding for more detectives.

Chloe has welcomed the additional police funding and the Government’s commitment to recruit an extra 20,000 police officers. This will be a direct benefit to Norwich.
