Author: Chloe Smith, Updated: 07 September 2012 12:35

Norfolk MPs Chloe Smith , Norman Lamb and Simon Wright are to visit the Greater Norwich Youth Homelessness Forum Friday 20th January to discuss the key challenges facing charities and local authorities tackling homelessness.

Chloe Smith Member of Parliament for Norwich North said:

"Homelessness is a deep and serious problem. We all need to be aware of its causes and look for solutions. It is a tragedy for individuals and in some cases families. This meeting is a good chance to see what we can do locally."

"I support YMCA Norfolk a a patron and local Big Issue vendors for exactly this reason. "

Norwich South MP, Simon Wright, who has convened the meeting with other Norfolk MPs, said:
"This meeting is an important opportunity to discuss how we can work together to help tackle homelessness in and around Norwich. One of my greatest concerns as a constituency MP is the number of enquiries I receive from young people about their housing needs. Young people find themselves in uncertain situations due to relationship breakdowns, family or friends no longer providing accommodation, and financial hardship. Whatever the reasons, we need to do all we can to make sure that provision is there to prevent young people becoming homeless."

Norman Lamb, MP for North Norfolk, said:
‘Homelessness is a serious issue, particularly for young people here in Norfolk and this meeting is an opportunity to hear the Forum’s views and concerns.’
