Help and advice on accessing NHS dentists in Norwich and Norfolk

Author: Chloe Smith, Updated: 10 February 2023 14:10

I recognise that access to NHS dentists remains an issue for my constituents, a situation compounded by the pandemic and a shortage in dental workforce across the UK. The Government has recently taken a number of steps to encourage dentists to take on more NHS work and made it easier for overseas dentists to come and work in the UK. Government has also requested that dental practices take steps to update their online listings to identify if they are taking on NHS patients.

To assist constituents, I have updated the contact points and resources to help you find a dentist. Constituents are not tied to a geographical area for dental treatment and can access NHS treatment out of area if convenient.

I remain committed to highlighting Norwich's dental issues to Parliament to try to secure as much help and support for constituents as possible.

Dental emergency and out-of-hours care

If you think you need urgent care, contact your usual dentist as some surgeries offer emergency dental slots and will provide care if clinically necessary.

You can also contact NHS 111, who can put you in touch with an urgent dental service.
