Member of Parliament for Norwich North, Chloe Smith, will tomorrow be attending the Norwich CCG’s strategic planning event. Working in close partnership with the Clinical Commissioning Group board, representatives from the local councils and Norwich colleague Simon Wright MP, Chloe will be seeking to develop long-term goals for local health services.

The strategic planning process will help to prioritise patient needs locally, guiding the CCG in commissioning of health services from April 2013.

The event will conduct a review of the CCG health picture - provided and presented by the Norfolk Public Health team - and will seek to agree:

1.       The health priorities for central and suburban Norwich

2.       The commissioning principles that will guide and inform decisions about new and existing services

3.       The key factors to be taken into account in determining which services and treatments are to be given priority

Chloe commented:

"It is good news for Norwich that doctors and other healthcare professionals are gaining the power to get the right services for us all as patients. I have long said I want to see more power given to GPs and to patients. This event is a good example of Norwich doctors stepping up to that responsibility and it is a great chance to help them gather as much information as possible about what Norwich patients need. I'll be speaking up with what constituents have told me - such as needing more health facilities in Mile Cross."
