Chloe Smith MP welcomes pledge to save Mind helpline

Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust has stepped in to ensure that the Mind helpline, designated to help prevent mental health crises for adults, will continue offering services for adults in Central Norfolk.

Chloe Smith MP has been fighting the potential closure of the helpline at the end of July after time-limited funding from Norfolk Clinical Commissioning Groups ended.

NSFT has today pledged to fund the helpline for the rest of this financial year after it received more than 6,000 calls from trust service users since it was launched in January.

Chloe Smith MP said:

“I welcome this decision to continue funding the helpline for the rest of the financial year.

I have had many constituents get in touch with me in recent months who have received invaluable help and support from the helpline.  I firmly believe that the Mind helpline is an important service which has been of huge benefit to many of my constituents and I have been lobbying hard in recent months to secure further funding so that this service can continue to be offered.

As the constituency MP for Mind in Norwich, I'll continue to work closely with them to serve constituents”.
