Member of Parliament for Norwich North, Chloe Smith, will spend the week commencing 30th July supporting local producers and retailers by pledging to Buy Local.

Buy Local supports genuinely local businesses in Norwich and Norfolk by providing a unique accreditation process. One the accreditation has been awarded, the member businesses are authorised to display the buy local registered trademark, identifying themselves to the growing number of businesses and consumers to whom buying local products and services is important.

Chloe will spend time during the week visiting local producers and retailers throughout the City to see how the scheme affects them and to promote what Norfolk businesses have to offer.

Chloe comments:

"I'm taking part and looking forward to it. I plan to visit local independent shops and the market for food. I'll try to use independent petrol stations too.

"I use local suppliers already for my office. That week I am focusing on running a series of surgery events all around Norwich North, so in a way I'm contributing as well by making my work even more local too.

"I support the campaign because I want to see the local economy flourish. I have always stood by the fact that Norwich is a great city with great shops and services – which makes "buying local" great too.  You can get bargains and be local at the same time."
