Chloe Smith, Member of Parliament for Norwich North, was invited to take part in Heartsease Primary Academy’s Reading Week to support the school's programme while children are learning from home.

Chloe’s video was posted on the school’s Facebook page as part of a series of book-readings recorded by the teachers and children to share a range of stories for pupils.

Her choice was Cleopatra Bones and the Golden Chimpanzee by Jonathan Emmett - because her own son loves the illustrations of vehicles and animals!

Chloe formerly chaired the governing body at the school.  She has welcomed the school many times to tour Parliament - along with supporting all Norwich North schools in similar ways whenever she can.

Chloe said: “I was delighted to be invited by Heartsease Primary Academy to take part in their Reading Week.  I thought their Reading Week programme was a great approach to learning from home and is a fantastic way of keeping the school's community spirit alive during difficult times.”

Headteacher of Heartsease Primary Academy, Alex Burrell, commented:

“We are absolutely astounded and so proud of all the hard work and dedication from the families at Heartsease to continue encouraging our children to keep learning in these uncertain times. The children have blown us away with how much they have shared; from reading stories during Reading Week to being creative with their amazing bunting, which they have attached to our school fences to celebrate VE Day. We can't thank our families enough; they have put a smile on so many faces everyday. Well done Heartsease!”
