Chloe Smith, Member of Parliament for Norwich North, will be pressing ahead with her Safer Cycling Campaign after securing meetings with both Norfolk County Council and Norwich City Council, taking place Thursday 19th July 2012 and Wednesday 25th July 2012 respectively.
Chloe, a keen cyclist herself, is campaigning locally to promote safer cycling. Chloe seeks to encourage greater co-operation between all road users.
Following two tragic fatal accidents involving cyclists in Norwich in recent months, Chloe was eager to do all she could to help prevent future accidents. Chloe immediately requested meetings with Norwich City Council and Norfolk County Council to discuss their responsibilities and how Chloe can work with them to improve road safety and encourage other preventative measures against future accidents. She is also working with the police.
Chloe comments: “As a local MP, I have always been keen to work with local authorities and police to improve road safety. Two tragic deaths is shocking and wrong and we need to work together to improve safety and awareness. Cycling in our fine city should be safe and enjoyable for all.”
