Author: Chloe Smith, Updated: 29 September 2015 16:26

Chloe Smith is attending a meeting of young parliamentarians from across Europe to discuss youth employment. Organised jointly by the European Parliament and the EU40 Group, the aim is to produce a resolution on how to tackle youth unemployment in the context of the European Commission investment plan.

The Investment Plan focuses on removing obstacles to investment, providing visibility and technical assistance to investment projects and making smarter use of new and existing financial resources. The goal is to mobilise investments of at least €315 billion in three years, support investment in the real economy and create an investment friendly environment.

The forum will include discussion on the role of SMEs and Research/Innovation.

Commenting on the event Chloe said:

"Youth employment remains one of the big issues of our times. A generation needs opportunities. I believe that my local and national work to help more young people into work is also relevant internationally and I'm looking forward to sharing ideas across European nations. I'm also proud to be able to represent Britain once again as one of our youngest MPs, having done so at previous international Inter-Parliamentary Union meetings."

First elected at 27, Chloe is one of Britain’s youngest MPs. She chairs the All Party Parliamentary Groups on Youth Affairs and Youth Employment.
