UK pledges another £80 million in aid to help Ukraine deal with humanitarian crisis

Author: Chloe Smith, Updated: 02 March 2022 10:03

Yesterday, the Government announced that they are increasing our humanitarian support to Ukraine with a further £80 million in aid and expanding our humanitarian route as they continue to do everything they can to support the Ukrainian people at this time.

The Ukrainian people have shown that their spirit will not be broken, and the world has been united in praise for their bravery, but we must continue to provide the Ukrainian people with the resources they need.

That is why the Government has pledged a further £80 million in humanitarian aid – bringing the overall aid support from the UK for Ukraine to £220 million. The Government is also expanding the Ukrainian Humanitarian Route, confirming that British nationals and people settled in the UK with parents, grandparents, adult children and siblings from Ukraine will be able to bring their extended family members to the UK, subject to security checks – as well as a new sponsored route to allow communities to privately sponsor Ukrainian refugees.

We have a moral duty to support Ukrainians affected by Putin’s unprovoked aggression and we will stand with Ukraine in the fight for freedom.
