Chloe likely to vote 'remain' in European referendum

Author: Chloe Smith, Updated: 22 February 2016 11:41

There will be a referendum on the UK's membership of the European Union on 23rd June. The Prime Minister has spent recent months negotiating an improved deal for Britain, which you can read here: https://www.gov.uk/government/speeches/pms-statement-following-european-council-meeting-19-february-2016

The question in the referendum therefore is whether Britain should 'leave' the EU or 'remain' in the EU on the terms of this deal.

If you are not yet registered to vote, contact Broadland District Council or Norwich City Council, or use https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. Before June there are also local elections in the City area and the Police and Crime Commissioner election for all of Norfolk, so why not register early and be ready for all of these chances to have your say?

"The PM has worked hard and got a good deal. I strongly welcome that it ends 'ever closer union' and stops welfare abuse. I am sceptical of the EU but not convinced that there is any better practical option in leaving. Therefore, on balance I'm likely to vote 'Remain'. For me the principle of more jobs and trade for people in Norwich is very important. I also believe we benefit from shared crime and security mechanisms. As this is a referendum, every person's view is equally important so I urge everyone to be informed and registered to vote."
