Chloe launches local government survey

Chloe Smith, Member of Parliament for Norwich North, will tomorrow launch a consultation on local government services.

As part of this consultation, Chloe is asking residents of the Norwich North constituency to go to www.tellchloe.com and fill out a short survey. The questions ask for opinions on a range of different local services and are designed to find out how well local councils are performing.

Constituents who are unable to access the website should write to Chloe at 157 Aylsham Road, Norwich NR3 2AD or call her office on 01603 414756 to discuss the local services that are important to them.

During the Norwich North by-election, Chloe promised to organise an annual survey of local people on the performance of local councils to hold them to account on the services they provide, such as recycling, bus services, road maintenance and housing. The text of Chloe's contract can be found at www.chloesmith.org.uk/contract

Commenting on the survey, Chloe said:

"People appreciate local services when they are run well. We have several councils locally which broadly work well, and yet other councils underperform year on year. I look forward to getting some new data on people's real-life experiences of local services. I hope this will be particularly constructive at this time of year as councils deliberate on their budgets. I will ensure that people's concerns are heard after the survey and I will press for action wherever possible."

Chloe will close the survey and collate results at the end of February.

Chloe Smith MP

In the by-election on 23rd July 2009, local people elected Chloe Smith to be the new Conservative MP for Norwich North.

Chloe has been a longstanding campaigner for our community. For instance, even before she was our MP she was active against the closure of the NHS walk-in centre at Thorpe St. Andrew, fighting for justice following the Greyhound Opening homes scandal, working to improve the quality of council housing, and pushing the councils to address road problems.

Now, Chloe is proud to have been your hardworking local MP since last July's by-election. She has spoken out in Westminster for Norwich North, and worked tirelessly for local people here at home. As your MP she has pushed for better roads and rail, decent local services, help for our troops and much more.

A Norfolk girl, Chloe lives in Norwich and enjoys cycling and playing badminton at a city club in her spare time. Chloe passionately enjoys the arts.

She is an active charity volunteer, having set out to climb Mt Kilimanjaro in 2006 for the British Heart Foundation and Leukaemia Research and having completed fundraising challenges for local charities such as John Grooms Court. She is Patron of YMCA Norfolk and the Inspire Hands-On Science Centre in Norwich, as well as Honorary Vice President of the Norfolk and Norwich Novi Sad Association. She is a school governor of a primary school in the city.

Chloe formerly worked for a leading international firm which advises private businesses, government departments and public bodies.
