Reporting Back: Voter Fraud Your Vote is Yours Alone

Author: Chloe Smith, Updated: 20 March 2018 09:40

First and foremost I am your constituency MP. But I am also honoured to have been asked to serve the country in Parliament as the Minister for the Constitution. This post gives you a flavour of some of the work I'm doing there and how I hope it benefits Norwich as well as the whole country.

Regular followers of my website will know that I frequently share letters from ministerial colleagues to keep you connected to the work the government is doing in Westminster on a wide variety of issues. I am pleased today to share with you one such letter, this time, it is a letter I have written myself in my capacity as Minister of the Constitution. As a committed and long-standing supporter of democracy and an encourager of political engagement, regardless of an individual’s point of view, I am proud to share with you my work on combatting voter fraud.

In the letter below, I have outlined the work the government is doing to tackle voter fraud through the ‘Your Vote is Yours Alone’ Campaign. I feel very strongly that all voters should feel confident in the voting system and not be discouraged in democratic participation because of a fear of voter fraud. I am also proud of the new changes I have brought into place to make it easier for victims of domestic abuse to register to vote anonymously.
