Chloe Smith, MP for Norwich North, recently hosted the launch of the Aviation Skills Partnership’s Manifesto at an event in Parliament.

UK aviation is growing strongly in both civilian and defence sectors. There is clear demand for talent to fuel this growing industry, with many of these engineers to be trained at the new International Aviation Academy opening in Norwich later this year.

Commenting on the launch, Chloe said:

“I’m delighted the UK’s first International Aviation Academy will be based in Norwich. Not only is this great news for young people looking to start a career in aviation, it will also provide a real boost to the economy of our city and region. The UK holds the number one spot in Europe for our aerospace and aviation industries, but we need to invest in skills for the future if we are to enjoy the full benefits of this.”

With capacity for over 450 students, the Aviation Academy in Norwich will provide a real world learning environment with full size aeroplanes and innovative teaching techniques. The Academy will focus on six areas including pilots, air traffic, airport operations, crew and engineering.
