No cuts to Police budget

Author: Chloe Smith, Updated: 27 November 2015 12:37

Police funding will be protected in real terms.

Commenting on the announcement Chloe said:

“I’ve had a number of constituents contact me with worries about policing, particularly in the wake of Paris. We need a police force which is properly resourced, and one which has the power to react to dangerous situations where the public is under threat.

“It’s great to hear that there will be no cuts to the police budget at all. I also welcome the Chancellor’s announcement of new state-of-the-art mobile communications for emergency services, new technology at our borders, and a 30% rise in the counter-terrorism budget.”

The news comes alongside increased funding for GCHQ to ensure our national security. Over 1,900 new intelligence staff are being recruited and funding for cyber capabilities will double to £1.9 billion over this parliament.
