Government to focus on 'growing the economy' in Queen's Speech

Author: Chloe Smith, Updated: 10 May 2022 10:02

Today the Queen’s Speech will set out 38 new Bills for the upcoming Parliamentary session, helping to ease the cost of living, boost economic growth, and make our streets safer for everyone.

The Government were elected on a mandate to level up our communities, boost economic growth, and create high-skilled work – and a new Parliamentary session brings the opportunity to set out the plans to do this in the year ahead.

That is why, today, the Queen’s Speech will set out 38 new Bills for the upcoming Parliamentary session – including action to ease the cost of living and boost economic growth, bills to deliver the benefits of Brexit, the Levelling Up and Regeneration Bill to improve planning rules, and the Public Order Bill to prevent interfering with key national infrastructure.

These proposals will build on our work so far and ensure that the Government continues to deliver on our manifesto promises to people here in Norwich and across the country.
