Chloe welcomes Thorpe St Andrew High School Pupils to Westminster

Author: Chloe Smith, Updated: 20 January 2016 13:05

Chloe Smith, Member of Parliament for Norwich North on Monday 18th January 2016 welcomed a group of Sixth Form students from Thorpe St. Andrew High School to Westminster.

Chloe met with the students and answered questions on her work in Westminster and took the students on a tour of the Houses of Parliament.  During which the students had the opportunity to visit the broom cupboard where suffragette, Emily Wilding Davison hid in 1911 on the night of the 1911 census, so that on census forms she could legitimately give her place of residence that night as the House of Commons.

Chloe comments: “I was very pleased to welcome the Thorpe St Andrew high School students to Westminster. School groups often visit Parliament because the buildings are historical and inspiring.  I am offering to help every school in Norwich North organise a simple trip, and many schools in our area will be eligible for help with the costs of transport. If you’re a parent or a pupil, why not encourage your school to get in touch and run a trip your child won’t forget?”

The Houses of Parliament run an education programme that can be tailored to suit different age groups, parents or schools interested in organising a trip can do so via Chloe’s office at chloe@chloesmith.org.uk
