Chloe Smith, Member of Parliament for Norwich North, has today sought assurances for constituents in the wake of the tragic Grenfell Tower fire disaster last week.

Chloe has written to Norwich City Council seeking assurances on behalf of constituents that local authority tower block accommodation meets with the required fire safety standards and that appropriate plans are in place should there be fires inside any of its tower blocks.

Chloe commented: "The government is doing all it can to help people after this unimaginably awful fire. I want to express my grief for all involved. I have also contacted Norwich City Council promptly to seek reassurances that my constituents who live in tower blocks in Mile Cross and Heartsease are safely housed."

Chloe has received information promptly in reply from the City Council, and has also received a letter from the Prime Minister confirming the Government’s response to the disaster, which outlines how it plans to ensure that those directly affected are cared for and receive the support they need.
