Chloe Smith has been appointed as a government minister for Northern Ireland. The department's responsibilities can be seen here https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/northern-ireland-office.
Chloe accepted the role, saying:
"I am proud to be asked to serve in this role at this very complex and challenging time. I accepted it because I want to contribute in Parliament and Government to some of the biggest issues of the day including important aspects of Brexit, national security, and the devolution settlement. I also welcome helping Northern Ireland's voice be heard as part of our United Kingdom."
Chloe has been re-elected as MP for Norwich North with more votes than ever before, and she stresses how important her constituency work is to her even while she takes on these duties:
"Of course I'll carry right on making sure Norwich North is fully represented, working hard for my constituents as I always do. I'm always a constituency MP but I'm also proud to serve my country."
